Growing up as an immigrant from the former Soviet Union, Sophia intuitively honed her observation and listening skills. As a researcher, she puts these powers into practice by facilitating collective meaning-making in the service of justice.

Sophia comes to Magic Cabinet with a background in liberatory education, youth arts, and program management. In 2022, she completed her PhD in Education with a dissertation project on the racialized assimilation of her queer, white Soviet Jewish immigrant community.

Sophia is active in Bay Area organizing and loves making art, with others and on her own. Outside of work, she enjoys taking day trips to the forest/river and cuddling with her cat and dog, Spaghettios and Sheena.
